Water leak repairs in South
London is one of the key services I deliver, seven days a week if need be. A lot of people think this is something that will
only happen in winter during long periods of severe frost. I can assure you that is not at all the case.
All year round, for a wild variety of reasons, people need water leaks repaired in their homes, or
even worse, leakage from other people's properties.
Most of the time, I am working in South East London/South West
London and always have all that I need for emergencies with me.

There are few times when you need a reliable plumber
faster. I work in the south of London (which covers part of
Surrey of course) and the west of
Kent. The average response time is probably around half an
hour if you are in a real hurry.
Sometimes, tiny drips can have major consequences. Maybe not daily or even weekly, but on a more or less regular basis I come across situations in south London where a small drop
once a minute caused a bit problem in the long run. The two most common types of expensive damage are rot in wooden beams and joists, and rust on boilers.
Long term exposure of a joist to water and the results of it is something most of us have seen before. A bit less common but equally expensive, and potentailly lethal, is the the little
drop of water that ends up on top of the boiler. Very few boilers have rust protection for the top, and frequent exposure to a little puddle, will end up rusting the casing.
At some point, the rust will eat right through and create an opening that is usually not discovered for a long time. Not only is it now possible for the fumes from the burner
to enter into your home, dirt, dust and debris are now also much more likely to end up on/in the burner. This is very likely to disturb the combustion process, which leads to CO or carbonmonoxide
production.
There are several issues when you need water leaks repaired. First of all, in most
cases, it is not quite clear where the problem actually comes from. Most
houses have 2 or 3 different sources of water.
Mains, storage in a tank and cylinder, and in most modern sealed/pressurised boilers, the system of pipes and radiators can contain well over a hundred litres or twenty five gallons.
The most problematic is a leaking mains.
There are 3 separate reasons for this. The obvious one: it will never run out. If left, it can spill thousands of gallons.
To make things worse, quite often it can be under several bars of pressure, or dozens of psi if you prefer old money.
You can probably imagine what can happen if the problem is of the above level. A bad stain in the ceiling if you are lucky, but it can be much worse.
This why our water leak repair South London service give
the highest priority to this kind of emergency.
The second source is the central heating system. In many cases,
it has an automatic top up system, and can therefore be of unlimited
capacity.
The third source is the cold water storage system. These are
based on large tanks. Even when you turn the main stop cock for the
house off, they will continue to empty and can flood your property
with 50 to 100 gallons of water.
If you see some thing like this, with green spots near joints, ----------------------------->
there are three options.
You have a leak.
You had a leak which is stopped by limescale/dirt for the
time being, but can start leaking again at any moment.
Or water is about to start leaking.
There are several complications with this kind of problem. In the
vast majority of houses and flats, the stop-cocks are not (easily)
accessible. A lot of people don't even know where they are.
Conversions can be especially difficult. The original stopcock
may have been enclosed, or removed. A new valve may or may not
have been installed. If there is one at all, it can be in any
possible place you can think of. Or you can have 2, 3 or even 4,
each isolating only one part of the property. And finally, if you
have a stop cock at all, and you managed to find it, they are often
completely stuck or even broken.
You never know when you need somebody like me, and when you do,
you need me half an hour ago!
