Worcester Bosch CDI boiler repairs in south east London

Worcester Bosch CDI repairs in south east London is one of the most rewarding parts of my career since moving here. Most people have heard of them, as there are untold thousands of them around. Some of them dating back as far as the nineties, and are still going strong. What I like about the "old" versions, is that they were well built with enough controls to make them effective, but not many unnecessary gizmos that are only waiting to break down.
Over the years, I have seen that a Worcester CDI boiler repair of this type, and by that I mean Standard Efficiency or non condensing, is more often than not wear a tear issue. Something like a pump with moving parts that can spin for more than 12 hours a day in both hot and cold water, is bound to give up at some point. I have many a Worcester CDI repair in south east London, and it invariably keeps them faithfully going for a long time; solid as a rock these are.
If you have a problem with one of these, or think it is time for servicing, call me on.......

Worcester Bosch CDI boiler repair downsides

repaired Worcester Bosch CDI There is one downside to working on these. Virtually every variation that has been brought out over the years ( in excess of 20 different models ) has one or two parts that are an absolute pig to replace. Unless you know the boiler inside and out, you can get really stuck on these jobs. But like almost everything in life, there is usually an alternative, or a trick to do it.
Lateral thinking can do wonders here. There is one model where a particular part that is prone to failing if something was done wrong at the time of install. Having to replace this one, is the text book example of the difference between simple and easy.
It is very simple. Make sure the boiler is cold, turn of the electricity, undo a couple of screws and loosen a couple of clips, and swap old one for new one. A 15 year old apprentice could do it. Could being the operative word, as you have to get the part out. But you can't, unless you are willing to just about take the boiler to bits, and then rebuild and re-tune it completely. However, if you know exactly how this machine sticks together, you can take the whole unit off the wall in about 15 minutes, and put it back on in half an hour. As this can be done without damaging anything or having to retune it, it makes the job a whole lot less expensive. This does presume of course, that you have enough access, and sufficient muscle to do it. If either of those fails, you have a problem.
You may be wondering why repairing a Worcester Bosch CDI boiler in south east London was, or is so rewarding, if they are so good? The answer is quite simple: there have been so many sold in this area, and a very high percentage of them are still around. As far as I know, every single part is still easily available which means in virtually all cases the problem can be sorted within 24 hours. The price of spares for these tends to be average, and since it is pretty safe to say that even the oldest models could still be expected to give at least 3 to 5 years reliable service, it is always worth the money. Even the "predecessor" which is the WB 230/240/280 series, is usually still worth patching up.

All Worcester Bosch CDI varieties are worth repairing

Worcester CDI repairs cover quite a large variety in size as well as model. Size wise in terms of capacity, they range from 24 to 42 kilo Watt. They come in condensing and standard efficiency, although the latter are not made any more today. There are combi versions, system models and an open vent variety. Some of the older versions were available without a fan, in both open flue and balanced flue. The latter are the ones with the big square flue coming out the wall. If you ever need to identify exactly which model you have, the only real way is to find the Gas Council Number on the boiler. This is a unique identification, and there is only 1 model boiler for each number. There are three different types of condensing or High Efficiency. The first one was called the Xtra, which only came in one size, 26 kW. Contrary to the other models, it was never much of a hit, at least not around here. I can't remember the last time I saw one.
Then there are two Greenstar series, and both proved to be very popular. Not exactly cheap, but reliable and extremely quiet. The first Greenstar models are indicated by 25, 30, 35 and 40, corresponding with the maximum output. These were discontinued in 2007 and replaced by very similar boilers that are fractionally more powerful. They are:

27CDi GC NUMBER 47-406-12
30CDi GC NUMBER 47-406-14
37CDi GC NUMBER 47-406-08
42CDi GC NUMBER 47-406-10

The numbers, as is the rule for this brand, have a logical connection between the "name" and the output. The only exception here, is the 30. consistent with the range, it has 5 kW more power than the lower one, and 5 less than the bigger brother, 32 kilo Watt to be precise.

If you need the latest model Worcester Bosch CDI Greenstar repaired or serviced, I can help. Resetting the controls? Flue gas analyses to see if the combustion still looks good? Can you hear a strange sound that you don't trust? There is nothing on these that I can not sort out for you. I have all the digital equipment that is necessary to measure the vacuum pressure down to the milli bar, flow and return differential temperature up to 0.1 degree accurate and carbon monoxide output as accurate as 1 ppm.
Repairing a Worcester CDI has so far always proven to be a financially sound decision in my experience. I can only think of one exception to that. If a long term leak has caused so much corrosion that it has rusted through the boiler housing itself. Although it is possible, I have never seen one these where that had actually happened.
